Claims Options
The CNPweb uses the information provided on your sponsor and site applications to determine your participation in the School Nutrition Program and the operating months when your organization can submit a reimbursement claim.
Claims Guidelines
You submit monthly claims using the following USDA guidelines:
- Each claim covers the reimbursement activity for one calendar month.
- You submit claims on or after the first day of the following month.
- You must submit all new (original) claims within 60 days of the month end. You may submit one new claim past the 60-day limitation every 36 months.
Claims Approval
The state agency assigns an approval option to your organization.
- State Agency approval - For some sponsor organizations, the state agency requires the sponsor to submit a claim for review before approval.
- Automatic approval - For some sponsor organizations, the state agency automatically approves a claim when the sponsor submits it.
